VAR Chaos Leaves Managers Furious as Football Faces ‘Sterile’ Future
Burnley boss Scott Parker is angry with VAR. He says football is turning into a boring game because referees keep checking the screen again and again.
His team lost 3-2 to Manchester United after a very late penalty. At first, the referee said play on, but then VAR told him to look again. After watching the replay, he gave a penalty. Bruno Fernandes scored and United won.
Parker said: “The referee didn’t give it at first. But then people sitting far away changed his mind.”
Earlier, Burnley striker Lyle Foster scored a goal but VAR cancelled it because of a tiny offside. Foster said it was unfair.
The same day, Chelsea beat Fulham 2-0, but there was drama there too. Fulham’s young player Josh King scored, but the referee said it was a foul before the goal. Later, Chelsea got a penalty after the ball hit Ryan Sessegnon’s arm.
Fulham’s boss Marco Silva was very angry. He called the decision “unbelievable” but said he couldn’t talk much, or he’d be punished.
It’s only the third game of the Premier League season, but once again everyone is talking more about VAR than football.
